Back in the shop

Hello world!  I am back in the shop after a much needed vacation in Oaxaca, Mexico.  I had a great time, and gained some major inspiration and relaxation that has really brought my spirits back to high levels and I am ready to work on some new projects.  I can't wait to share some new ideas I have, and certainly will be over the next few weeks and months.  Here's some pics.

This was part of a huge gate that featured these interlocking forged metal pieces.  So cool.

We went to the famous printmaking school in Oaxaca.  Printmaking has been a passion of mine for many years, and it was awesome to see some of the super old presses they had there.

This was a badass lady who was part of this tiny printmaking co-op that was down the street from where we stayed.

I am obsessed with rats and Mexico shares my passion.  This was an ancient Zapotec relic.

This was our last breakfast at our favorite little cafe, Oscuro Brebaje.  It was literally right next door to where we stayed and it was amazing.  I miss this type of breakfast spread!

So since I have been back I have already been working on some new stuff.  I used to make a lot of notebook covers, and it is something I like making because I also like to carry a notebook with me to jot down ideas, drawings and notes.  This is a new design I came up with that has some storage pockets inside for pens and pencils, as well as small stuff like pencil sharpeners, or cards or whatever.  I will be adding it to the shop soon.  It holds a 5.5" x 8" moleskine volant paper bound notebook (or any notebook that size), and comes with one.  It has a simple leather slide closure that is easy to use.  Made from a really beautiful Crazy Horse pull up leather outside, with a thin softer cowhide interior.  Has a relatively low profile, while still protecting your stuff.  Look out for it!

Simple, yet effective.  That is the key.

As always, I appreciate everyone's continued support!  Hope you are having a great day.
